Leadership Retreat


Open to all adults who work with youth and/or young adults.

NOTE: The location of the retreat has been changed due to the volcanic activity and temporary closure of Kilauea Military Camp.  New location is at Ascension Mission Church in Puako located on the Kona side of the Big Island.  Participants are welcomed to campout on the parish grounds for the weekend of the retreat.  Some Big Island parishes will provide tents for those who are interested.  We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. Please, continued prayers for all those affected by the volcano. 

Leadership Retreat 2018

Theme: Listen to Him (Mark 9:2-10)

Dates: July 13 (starts at 7 p.m.) - July 15 (ends at 12 noon)

Location: Ascension Mission Church, Puako, Hawaii Island

Cost of Retreat: $60 (includes 4 meals and snacks)

Meals: Friday – Snacks; Saturday –Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner; Sunday – Breakfast

Overnight Accommodations: You are welcomed to campout on the grounds of the parish on Friday and Saturday night. One local parish has offered to bring tents, if you want to do this. If you do, please be sure to check the appropriate box on the Registration Form. Otherwise, you may be able to find a vacation rental or hotel in Puako or Waikoloa. Again, we apologize for this inconvenience, but appreciate your understanding.

Transportation is on your own. If you are flying, we suggest flying into the Kona Airport.

 

Retreat Leader: Mr. Tom East

Tom is the Director of the Center for Ministry Development and Project Coordinator for the Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies Program. Previously, Tom was the Director of Youth Ministry and the Associate Director for Religious Education for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Tom has provided workshops on volunteer management in dioceses and parishes for over twenty-five years. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles.

Spiritual Director: Sr. Celeste Cabral, OSB

Sister Celeste “CC” Cabral is a Benedictine Sister who lives at Mary, Spouse of the Holy Spirit Monastery in Waialua.  One of the few ‘local girls’ who has dedicated her life to Christ, she entered religious life in the year 2000 and took her final vows in 2007. Sr. CC is a certified Spiritual Director. She is also the Spiritual Advisor to the Catholic homeschool ministry, where she leads retreats. She has been keynote speaker at many diocesan-sponsored youth and young adult events and led parish missions. 

Each participant must submit a completed Registration Form, Adult Liability Waiver, and Emergency Contact Form.  All of these can be downloaded by clicking on each item.  Last day to register: June 22, 2018.
