A young adult, as defined by Sons and Daughters of the Light, is "anyone in the late teens, twenties, and thirties." To put a numerical value to that, a young adult is anyone ages 18 through 39. If you are interested in being involved with ministry to this age group at the parish, vicariate, or diocesan level please contact our office!
Below is a list of things going on in Hawaii's "Young Adult World"
Since we started coordinating monthly Young Adult Speaker Series events in 2012, the majority of the planning and coordination was done out of the Office of Youth & Young Adult Ministry to make connections with young adult communities throughout the diocese. Now, the focus will be to offer opportunities for parish young adult ministries to lead these events on their own while continuing to foster community!
The Office of Youth & Young Adult Ministry (OYYAM) has completed the first version of the Talk Story Manual which contains all the necessary information and materials needed to plan and execute a successful Talk Story event.
The events will no longer occur monthly. Instead, it will occur as often as we have ministries who are willing to host these events. The OYYAM will provide money, speaker recommendations and coordination, advertising and presentation materials, and the assistance of the office personnel to the host ministry.
If you're interested in having your parish young adult ministry host a Talk Story event, please contact us.
We look forward to watching others experience the joy and peace we receive each time we are able to bring the message of the Gospel to our communities through this event!
