If you’re looking to eat better, get active and reset your physical goals this summer, check out the free nutrition and life skills series through the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Expanded Food Nutrition and Education Program (EFNEP). Class slots are filling up quickly so please schedule your classes now at the location of your choice.
Eating Smart/Being Active Classes for Summer & Fall 2023 offer nine sessions that include 60-90 minute lessons in diet, nutritional well-being, and overall personal development for the family. Food demonstrations with kitchen supplies and cookbook are also included!
Lesson 1: Introduction, Food Safety and Dietary Recall
Lesson 2: Get Moving (Physical Activity)
Lesson 3: Plan, Shop, Save (Menu-planning)
Lesson 4: Fruits & Vegetables
Lesson 5: Whole Grains
Lesson 6: Go Lean with Protein
Lesson 7: Dairy, Calcium and Bone Health
Lesson 8: Make a Change (Fat, Sugar, Salt)
Lesson 9: Celebrate!
Students completing all nine sessions will receive a Certificate of Completion, Eating Smart/Being Active Recipe book and extra gifts (kitchen and cooking utensils) so students can continue to practice their newly learned skills at home.
