From the Office for Social Ministry
If you are involved in a caregiving ministry, you are following in the footsteps of St. Marianne Cope. But being a caregiver also means sometimes it is difficult to make time to care of yourself. The St. Francis Health Care System, a legacy of St. Marianne’s ministry witnessing to Jesus here in Hawaii, offers many resources to support caregivers in their journey of health and wellness. Thanks to their many generous community participants and donors, anyone can access a wealth of free classes throughout the month of February. If you’re looking to learn and cultivate new skills in the physical, emotional, and spiritual practices involved in caregiving for others and yourself, please check out the FREE Caregiver Education and Wellness Classes at St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii.
These free classes are very practical. For example, “Big Moves” is an exercise class every Monday to help jumpstart your week in a positive way. It helps activate your big muscles to reduce stiffness in the body, while improving circulation, coordination, and energy levels! If you’re looking to learn about nutritional health, check out the “Healthy Eating to manage your blood sugar levels” class which provides ways to prevent diabetes and hypertension. “Body and Brain Yoga Tai Chi” every Tuesday is a great way to relax the mind, focus on breathwork and find balance. And on Thursdays, try the “Tripudio Movement System” class that encourages all to just get up and dance! Best of all, these free virtual sessions allow you and your loved ones involved in caregiving to work out together in the comfort of your own homes!
