From the Office for Social Ministry
Happy St. Marianne Feast greetings and Happy Lunar New Year! There is much to be thankful for as we begin a new year. We are grateful for parish communities every year offering opportunities to Witness to Jesus and follow in the footsteps of St. Marianne Cope by volunteer involvement in community outreach with the most vulnerable. Mercy House is a transitional housing program that accompanies justice-involved women in their efforts returning from prison to integrate back into society. Mercy House is much more than just a house. It’s a place of mercy, love, and healing transformation. The Diocese Office for Social Ministry-OSM has been helping support the Pūʻā Foundation, a community-based nonprofit organization that has been overseeing the Mercy House Program since 2016. Pu’a staff are looking for volunteer drivers to help Mercy House residents commute to and from their jobs on Oahu’s windward side. If you are interested in helping provide transportation, please call Debbie Victor Macalino at 808-945-3570. For more information on this volunteer opportunity to Witness to Jesus, please click on this link for the Pūʻā Foundation website.
