It’s back-to-school time again, and many high schoolers are preparing for graduation and college applications. That means students must be academically prepared for college level English, Math, or Science classes. Rest assured, UH is offering FREE help to underrepresented groups in higher education!
The University of Hawaii at Manoa’s SEED Office (Student Equity, Excellence and Diversity) offers a variety of programs to promote ethnic diversity and student success, especially among minority groups which include Native Hawaiians, students with special needs, adults returning to education, and students of the LGBTQ community. Below are just a few programs that could benefit your child:
The Online Learning Academy (OLA) supports SEED participants with tutoring and mentorship for college readiness in STEM subjects from pre-algebra to calculus, writing and language arts, and even advanced college level biology, chemistry, and physics. OLA is a free resource to help high school students become academically prepared for higher education. One-on-one college tutors are also available!
GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) and Talent Search are programs from the U.S. Department of Education meant to help motivate low-income students with the potential to achieve higher education.
