If you or someone you know is suffering from job or income loss due to the coronavirus, help is on the way! The City and County of Honolulu has just secured $114 million in federal COVID-19 relief funds to launch a new Rent and Utility Relief program that becomes available to Oahu applicants beginning Easter Monday, April 5.
Hawaii’s 9.2% unemployment rate is reported to be the highest in the country according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics February 2021 report. And although our economy is slowly re-opening, the lack of job opportunities and delays in unemployment insurance payments have left many residents struggling to pay for food, shelter and basic household expenses. Depending on a person’s financial situation, qualified ‘Oahu applicants may receive funding for up to 12 months. This includes financial assistance to pay for rent, electricity, water, sewer and natural gas.As you can see by the flyer above, you must provide the following documents to apply:
