Show Aloha Challenge is a community-wide effort calling all local organizations to help feed homebound seniors in need. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a coalition of government, nonprofits, businesses and local restaurants has been delivering free nutritional meals to kupuna who do not qualify for Medicaid or government-subsidized food delivery. The mission also aims to support local restaurants affected by COVID shutdowns, while challenging others to get involved. You can help SHOW ALOHA too!
Thanks to generous donations from the Hawaii Dental Service Foundation, Show Aloha Challenge is now expanding its services on Oahu to include neighbor islands: Hawaii, Maui, Lanai, Molokai and Kauai through September 11, 2020. Seniors who would like to receive Meals on Wheels delivery service may call St. Francis Healthcare System at 547-6501 or visit their website.
Nourish Kauai is an active food ministry led by the Crossroads Christian Fellowship in partnership with Kauai-based farmers, fishermen and ranchers to provide locally grown food with LOVE. Its Kupuna Meal Delivery Program offers three homemade meals a week to seniors in need. Thanks to county-allocated CARES Act funds and community partnership with Saint Catherine Catholic Church and School’s food-certified kitchen in Kapa’a, volunteers are able to deliver free meals to eligible seniors every Wednesday through November.
