Second Round for Oahu's Rental and Utility Relief Program

May 3, 2021

From the Office for Social Ministry

After a temporary pause of the Rental and Utility Relief Program, the City & County of Honolulu will reopen a second round of 4,000 applications beginning Monday, May 3, 2021 at 2pm. About $114 million in new federal COVID-19 relief funds have been allocated to assist O’ahu households struggling to pay rent and bills for electricity, sewer, water and gas. When the program opened earlier last month, the request portal was flooded with requests that the program had to shut down within hours of the first day! Qualified households can receive up to $2500 a month to pay for past bills dating back to March 13, 2020. Eligible families may also qualify to receive up to $2500 for current and future rent and utility bills for a total of 12 months. Please share this information and this link to apply with parishioners who need financial assistance.  Encourage them to submit their applications ASAP. Future rounds of applications will open the first working Monday of each month as long as funds are available. The next round is slated for Monday, June 7, 2021.

For small business owners and restaurateurs, please visit Honolulu’s Office of Economic Revitalization website, which also offers opportunities for various programs to include:

  • the Restaurant Revitalization Fund
  • Opportunities for New Contracts as Women, Minority or Veteran-Owned Small Businesses
  • New Certification Courses for Women-Owned Businesses
  • Business related Educational Webinars for the month of May
