Important Updates for November Emergency Food Distribution

November 2, 2020

From the Office for Social Ministry

Let us pray for families on Lanai, who are currently coping with recent COVID outbreaks in their community. Maui County Mayor has issued a lockdown order across the entire island through at least November 11th. This means Sacred Hearts Parish Food Pantry will be temporarily unavailable for drive through and delivery services, which are usually held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month. For the latest schedules on possible re-opening dates, please visit the Sacred Hearts Parish Food Pantry website or contact food pantry manager by email. Meanwhile, feeding those in need during this pandemic continues to be a priority. Additional service points are still available across Maui and Molokai, according to the November Maui Food Bank Schedule.

We also pray for Kona Food Basket staff who may have been exposed to COVID-19. As of Thursday, October 29th, the Kona warehouse has been shut down as a precautionary measure, pending further testing of all workers. Please stay tuned for possible schedule changes by visiting the Hawaii Food Basket website. Here is the latest Ohana Food Drop Schedule for the month of November (subject to changes, depending on COVID-19 test results.) Drive-through locations, which are still slated for food distribution, include Waimea, Kea’au, Kohala, Na’alehu, Hilo, Waikoloa, Volcano, Kona, Pahoa and Honoka’a.

On Kauai, and Oahu, the Hawaii Food Bank remains committed to keeping food flowing in highest-need areas through extra POP-UP DISTRIBUTION sites at various locations in November.  All events require pre-registration and some are restricted to families living in designated zip codes. Please see the following POP-UP DISTRIBUTION schedules along with the registration instructions:

KAUAI’s Kokua No Ka ‘Ohana will typically operate 10:00 AM till 12 Noon. To register, please visit the Kauai Food Bank Website. Registration opens at 8:00 AM Thursday prior to each distribution.

OAHU’S Pop-Up Food Distribution times vary at different locations.  To register, go to Oahu Food Bank website.
