The Catholic Women's Guild Hawaii began July 3, 1859 when 22 native Hawaiian Catholic women and two "foreign" women enrolled themselves into an auxiliary organization of the men's Hawaiian Catholic Association to assist the newly arrived Sisters of the the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
For over 150 years, Catholic Women's Guild Hawaii has been an organization that fosters and encourages the spirit of service among Catholic women, and assists charitable endeavors, Catholic institutions, and civic groups concerned with the welfare of the general community.
Today, most of the Guild members are elderly and can no longer pursue efforts to make a difference in our local communities. The Guild needs younger Catholic women to breathe new life into the organization.
