Christopher Dekki, JD, has served in different capacities representing the Catholic youth voice at the United Nations and its subsidiary organizations. In addition to his position as the Main Non-Governmental Organization Representative (NGO) of Pax Romana to the United Nations, he is the New York Focal Point of the UN Major Group for Children and Youth. For the UN Sustainable Development Summit in September 2015, he was the Youth Organization Engagement Focal Point for the UN Secretary General's Envoy on Youth.
On behalf of Pax Romana and the International Coordination Meeting of Youth Organizations (ICMO) he served on the International Youth Task Force that coordinated the 2014 World Conference on Youth in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The WCY policy outcomes were presented to the 2014 UN General Assembly.
Dekki is currently a Civil Society Consultant for the transition to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in Chile, Botswana, and Nepal. He also prepares stakeholders for engagement in the UN Oceans Conference, as well as the High-Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development.
When not at the United Nations, Dekki teaches political science and law at St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn, NY, and organizes internships for student training on UN advocacy and engagement. He was a guest speaker at the Catholic Church's World Youth Day in Madrid, Spain in 2011 and worked with Catholic Charities' Immigration Services in New York City, NY, representing asylum seekers in court.
